I went to a bloody-fkn-epic-Slipknot-concert and Duality was INSANE!!!
Slipknot is the band that has surprised me the most live. After all these years they still go apeshit on stage.
I know when you think about heavy Slipknot songs, you think of things like Disasterpiece, (sic), People=Shit and Gematria. You've listened to duality over 1000 times now, and the riff just feels meaningless and empty at this point.
However, yesterday, I went to a bloody-fkn-epic-Slipknot-concert and Duality was INSANE!!!. I hadn't listened to the song for so long, and then I heard it. I forgot how heavy it was.
It was like listening to it for the first time again. I'm saying this now, it may be a bit out there, but hear me out. Duality is Slipknot's heaviest song, heavier than People=Shit and the entire Iowa album, heavier than Gematria, heavier than Psychosocial.
The main riff itself is equivalent to something you would see in the writings of extremely heavy bands, a lot of Djent and Metalcore influence comes to mind. It's just such a powerful riff with all the low chugging notes and the fast pace and the pinched harmonics.
Unfortunately, most people have probably heard it over 1000 times and it's gotten kinda boring for them, but I'll ask you this. Sit down and listen to Duality from the perspective of it being a metal song.
Not a Slipknot song, not a song from vol 3, just listen to it from an outside perspective. You'll remember how heavy this song is.
